" CELLULA MATER "

         " Cellula Mater ", pompous academic title, used to denominate São Vicente, as " The First City of Brazil ", Cellula Mater " of our homeland, where everything began, where the Portuguese boots stepped for the first time. It is the reality historical, unanswerable, less for a certain politician from Bahia become jealous, that doesn't adjust to the loss of that primacy, that in fact was never of Bahia, according to historical registrations, proven for dozens of historians. Cabral discovered Brazil in 1500, he didn't seat villa none in Bahia, he just passed for there and he went away.  What is strange it is the support of the Media to the Bahia' pretensions, perhaps, a way to please it and to obtain political favors. São Vicente is the first and final point and to attest that truth, we counted with a Historical and Geographical Institute of São Vicente, that doesn't let to lie us. On behalf of that " national " primacy, the one of being first in everything, hilarious situations happen in this city  "sui generis ". 

         Recently, it was inaugurated, in São Vicente,  the first cable car of the "Baixada Santista" (cities near of Santos) and the political hurry in inaugurating the cable car, it almost provoked a tragedy. In the day of the inauguration, the command computer joined, leaving dozens of people desperate suspended to hundreds of meters of height.  Before, a man of our city, that had just left his house to buy bread in the bakery, going by the place, he was anxious to travel in the cable car; he didn't control his actions and he was one of the first passengers of the infernal machine. And for the wife's surprise and of their children he appeared in the screen of the TV holding a bread sack and a box of milk. He was hung in the summit of the mountain, in a height, that no fire-stairway could reach and to rescue him with safety. There were not conditions, as there is not until today, for the firemen to work with safety. All were saved by the courageous soldiers, that took a risk the life supporting mountaineers.  The afraid man had his moment of glory, appearing in television. Him, that had left in the morning just to buy the bread, he had arrived at night in the dinnertime. There were also protests of the people against the politicians' hurry in they make the inauguration, seeking the hunt of the electoral votes.  

        Another hilarious fact  that provoked comments in the local press, was it happened in the last state elections. We had a machine of decimating mosquitos of the "Dengue" here, innovation brought by a politician from Santos, that decided to test it to kill the " mosquitos vicentinos ". Also in the day of the test the machine didn't work before, during or later. Today abandoned, it became the immense " White Elephant” of our politics. The mosquitos? Ah, those continue happy proliferating in all "Baixada Santista".

           São Vicente, it can also be considered, the city with larger number of dogs and the one that also has more little shit cakes ornamenting the sidewalks. But, that problem was solved with the inauguration of the “FIRST  PIPI DOG " of Brazil, maybe of South America.  Don't laugh please, it is true, it exists yes. Where? In the Square January 22. Now, the dogs have an own space, for their physiologic needs, with an indicative plate, posts, an area with sand, sacks to pick your feces (crap) and to play them in the garbage can. All comfort of a city of First World and this idea, we hoped she is enlarged for every city, eliminating once and for all polluted them canine dejections.    

         The First City of Brazil, it is being cogitated to enter in the book of the records (Guinness Book) with the largest world theatrical mega-show, staged in the sand of the beach (Beach of Gonzaguinha), where  we narrate a part of our history, with the arrival of Martin Afonso of Souza, on January 22, 1532, making official her as: " The First Villa of Brazil ".

            We would really like this city to root the First in everything: the First in sanitation, with treatment of water, sewer, channeled streams, without inundations, urbanized slums, safety. All the people  have the duty and obligation of to work and to exalt this " Celulla Mater ", so that it always occupies the first place, inside of the context of the national progress.
