WORKSHOP OF THEATER: THE NEUTRAL MASK AND THE PANTOMIME
PERIOD: OF SEPTEMBER 30 AT OCTOBER 26, 2004
The Workshop consisted of seven encounters, each one with duration of three hours, where we developed a work of theoretical and practical content, tends as objective develops in the student the creativity, trust and the knowledge of the stage technique.
In the first day we began the theoretical part with the report of the Art of the Pantomime - Forms of Pantomime - Origin of the Pantomime - The Pantomimes Old - Classic - Romantic and Modern.
Basic properties of the Pantomime with practical activities of simple action.
Requested material for the making of the Neutral Mask and information on the same. In the subsequent encounters we worked with:
Discovery of the Movement (balance, unbalance, gravity, compensation, accent of the movement, rhythm and pulse) - Theory and exercise with corporal expression.
Discovery Individual Gestual - Improvise of Pantomime with initial situation previously given.
Sensibilization with theoretical explanation involving the Sensorial Perception with exercises and surprises of generic Pantomimes.
The work emotional with the students accomplishing Pantomimes and working with a specific emotional state, in different situations - Making of the Neutral Mask.
Surprises with the Neutral Mask, as tool for the work of the expression, been eliminated the face expression.
Work of Pantomime with classic text (Hamlet " and " The Solemnity of the Boat of the Hell ") with staging of final evaluation.
The Workshop had a great use; the students demonstrated interest, good relationship and good receptivity. The group was always motivated, with attention, emotion, energy and a lot of action.

" RAMELETE IN THE BOAT OF THE HELL "
(This playshow was presented in São Vicente’s Village Center)

There are many years in the Country of Denmark, where lived a Prince very disturbed, that had as estimate object a skull, his confidant. --(Hamlet enters )--Hamlet, this it was his name, he lived tormented and insistently he asked the skull: to " be or not to be?... here is the subject !"- and without answer he was abandoned to the discouragement and depression.
There was also sweet damsel Ofélia, that didn't give him serenity.
(she enters Ofélia with the Dance of Tigrão).
Since he had given her some "kisses", Ofélia didn't release of his foot.
(Ofélia throws herself to their feet, hugging and kissing).-- she was jealous of the skull even. --(she tries to remove the skull of Hamlet, she falls and hugs their legs, he pushes her and she leaves crying desperate, pulling the hair. )
Poor Hamlet, now perhaps he could sleep . But ...his father's Ghost appears to scare him. (The Ghost appears).
It is... the Ghost came to collect revenge, because she had died murdered by the own brother,--(THE Ghost appoint the King, that passes appears fast in the bottom of the scene), that married with the Queen becoming the King. And him Ghost shouted for revenge! --(The Ghost comes out taking the skull).
The Príncipe Hamlet went by a phase of " astral " hell and his Queen mother, (she Enters the Queen) she worried a lot about such situation. She thought that he was being half " madwoman ".--(Hamlet falls asleep in the mother's lap--(She enters crazy Ofélia) -- But who really went mad was Ofélia. Poor!
(The Queen comes out leading Ofélia - In the bottom the Ghost father passes holding the skull slowly and scaring Hamlet. They enter the King and the Queen taking wine. – People enter the retinue carrying the body of Ofélia).
The madness of Ofélia took her the death. The unhappy one committed suicide drowning in the lake, because she didn't know how to swim. Her brother Laertes, disturbed attacks Hamlet. (Scene of the fight and of the deaths). it Remained a mountain of deads. - It is like this, they passed for another dimension, where slowly they approach two boats, one of the Glory of the sky and to another of the atonement of the Hell that they will await the convicts and favored them.
(Choreography of the Boats and of the deads). All are condemned to the Boat of the Hell, but Hamlet refuses to embarks on it. When two children appear, (the children enter) symbols of the innocence. The Devil attacks, but the Angel intervenes and leads them to the Boat of the Salvation. AND ...SURPRISE ! Hamlet sees the father's image with his little skull and he runs to his encounter. And, finally all they leave for the eternal trip. THE END
